| Famous People born and Raised in Malta |
The country of Malta is not only gifted with many tourist attractions, beautiful malta hotels, a unique culture but with unique and famous people as well who have placed their mark on history and changed the world. These people reflected the true culture and essence of Malta just like its architecture and cozy malta hotels. Malta is not only a country where great movies are created like Troy or the Count of Monte Cristo. It is also the home of a Joseph Calleia, a Broadway legend. He was a singer, composer and an actor who played in Broadway and in films with John Wayne, Bette Davis and others. He grew up in Saqqajja Square, Rabat Malta and traveled across Europe as a teenage singer for a harmonica band. He loved to play in Broadway more than on films. The people of Malta do not only excel in stage and film but in arts as well,more specifically in architecture.
Lorenzo Gafa was on such man who was well noted for his distinct Maltese baroque architecture. He was born on 1638 and he began his career as a stone carver until he began to be interested in architectural design. He first did redos on the main altar of Sta. Scholastica and the Domican Church. Later he designed some major churches in the main city of Valletta.
The parish church in Qrendi was also his project and he died on 1703. His projects became a place to visit by pilgrims and is quite accessible to a malta hotel. Other Maltese people excelled in music and Carmelo Pace proved this to the world. He made Malta world famous not only for malta hotel and sights but for his work as well. Maestro Chev Carmelo Pace was a Maltese composer and an expert in musical theory and harmonics who was born in the main city of Valletta, Malta on August 17, 1906. During World War II, he was assigned as the shelter supervisor and was responsible for 500 refugees.
To entertain the refugees, he formed a small orchestra. After the war, their house was destroyed and soon they transferred to Silema. He composed Maltesina, a composition based on traditional Maltese folk songs. He had more works that he was well noted for and he was also knighted with the order of Malta.
