| Religion and Spirituality of the Maltese |
Religion and spirituality is a crucial aspect on the lives of the Maltese people. Their religious beliefs and traditions are strongly influenced by the different colonizing powers that came to the small island state of Malta.
Their Religion and Spirituality is made manifest in the different Sites, the structure of Hotel Malta and the different festivals associated in the state. It is their Religion which moves the kind of the hospitality the people shows to guests staying in the different kinds of Hotel Malta. The most common religion in Malta is Catholicism as dated back from the time of St. Paul and the first bishop of the country, St. Publius. St Publius became the first bishop when St. Paul got shipwrecked in the island and converted him to Christianity. He was also the governor of Malta during that time. After 31 years of ruling the country, he was transferred in Athens where he was martyred. Hotel malta, offers different packages for pilgrims on a religious journey on the island. Some of the buildings during this time have been converted into tourist spots and a hotel malta for visitors to come and visit.
The coming of the French by Napoleon Bonaparte was first accepted with optimism since the order started to become unpopular, but since they looted church treasures and the church played an important role in the lives of the local, the Maltese rebelled and asked for the help of the British and they were set free. These churches are still standing today and some can be found in the main city of Valetta which is also home to hotel malta. It was also during this time that Gozo Island wanted to have their own diocese and this was granted. Don Pietro Pace became later on a bishop of Gozo and dedicated the cathedral to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The cathedral still stands today and is a favorite pilgrim site. Some hotel malta can be found in the island of Gozo which is also preferred by some tourists who want to experience rural life. The coming of the British after World War II came the age of religious tolerance; they brought with them members of the Anglican Church and different Protestant sects in the form of civil servants and retirees but Catholicism still dominated. Judaism is also common in Malta, although less in number compared to Catholics, and reached in peak in the middle ages under the times of the Norman. The year 1479 was not a great one for the Jews as they were persecuted and were asked to leave the city with little belongings. Some might have become Christians in order to stay. But in recent times, other religions can be found in the state as the constitution provides freedom of religion but it has also established Catholicism as the State Religion. These different religions are scattered all throughout the nation state and information about them can be found in hotel malta. Hotel malta can also provide tours and schedules for church services or masses.
The Maltese person is mainly Catholic but, because of the different influences that had been brought into the nation, thus was created a nation founded in faith but has a strong tolerance for other states.
Hotel malta will help you experience the city’s spirituality while giving you all the comforts you deserve. |
