Lija — Three Villages: Transfiguration parish, fireworks and living
Lija (Ħal Lija) is a small town in the Western District of Malta and one of the Three Villages with Attard and Balzan. It is known for its parish dedicated to the Transfiguration, the Belvedere tower and a long-standing festa fireworks tradition.

Lija lies in central Malta between Attard, Balzan, Birkirkara and Naxxar. It belongs to the Western District and, with Attard and Balzan, forms the Three Villages.
History of Lija
Lija separated from Attard to become its own parish in the 17th century, dedicated to the Transfiguration. The town preserves old villas and gardens, including the Belvedere tower set within former villa grounds. Its August festa, marked by extensive fireworks, has given Lija a strong reputation in the Maltese pyrotechnic tradition.
