Pietà lies on the western shore of Marsamxett Harbour, between Msida and Floriana, in the Northern Harbour District of Malta. The town is bordered by the Msida Creek area and provides a quiet residential enclave close to Valletta and the harbour.
History
Pietà developed in the 19th and 20th centuries as a residential area serving the harbour region. It gives its name to Pietà Military Cemetery, the principal British and Commonwealth war cemetery in Malta, established during the Second World War.
